Guillen-Garcia duo, formed by Manuel Guillén, María Jesús García and violin, piano, is a project that was born around the year 1994 with the spirit of acquiring a firm commitment to the Spanish music for violin and piano and solo violin, ensuring that programs range from the most popular to rediscover and premieres.
Since 1994, starting a business, say intermittent, which would lead to consolidation as a duo established in October 1996 with the completion of a small U.S. tour taking our music for the different cities, Portland (Oregon), Chicago, Madison (Wisconsin ) Cape Cod (Massachusetts), Washington DC, New York, performing works by Nin, Falla, Turina, Albeniz, Sarasate, Montsalvatge and premiering works by composers such as Salvador Brotons, ending the tour with a concert presentation of this group and in Spain at the Auditorio Conde Duque in Madrid. This first tour was followed by other countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Greece, alternating ... concert of violin and piano with violin only, premiering works by composers for this instrument as current Tomás Marco, David del Puerto, Santiago and Gabriel Fernández Alvez Navascués.
They have done concerts in major halls throughout the Spanish geography, participating in major music festivals and cycles as the International Festival of Music Ampurdá, Festival Internacional de Música dels Pirineus, International Music Festival in Segovia, Festival of Classics in the summer Comunidad de Madrid, Festival Internacional de Música de Santander ... Auditorio Nacional de Musica de Madrid, Fundacion Juan March, Auditorio Conde Duque in Madrid, ...
In response to this commitment with the Spanish music duo Guillen - Garcia, and in particular, Manuel Guillén facet in his solo, dedicatarios have been the works of some of the best composers of this time, Salvador Brotons, Tomás Marco David del Puerto, Mario Gosálvez, Zulema de la Cruz, Juan Medina, Claudio Prieto and Carlos Cruz de Castro, among others.
It is very important to highlight the research work undertaken by this duo, recovering works of authors such as Joaquín Turina, Pablo de Sarasate, Joaquin Nin, Jose Hierro, Enrique Fernández Arbós, Monastery of Jesus, Manuel Quiroga and others, bringing to light a hidden heritage to the memory and the ears of music lovers. Many hours of work well done and a great interest and dedication have been specified in concerts, lectures and articles published in some of the most important magazines, also on CD recordings made of the integral of the work for violin and piano Joaquin Nin, labeled tañidos, the work of violin and piano by Joaquín Turina, Manuel Guillén this time with pianist Luis Rego, labeled SEDEM and works for violin and piano of Jesus de Monasterio of the Studies with a second violin concerto for violin accompanist this same author also SEDEM lebel. They recently participated in the recording for the label Author "Fémina Classic" with 10 works by 10 composers, performing "Soul tarantella" by Zulema de la Cruz. A new CD just release for the label SEDEM dedicated to the music of Pablo de Sarasate drawing commemorating the centenary of his death, among other little known works of the great violinist play "Sommeil". |
